Peake Mews is a residential housing development just north of Cambridge.
A unique residential property development, Peake Mews is using the bridge housing model with the aim to get young people into housing.
Orb has been involved since the project inception, working with Brian Perry Charitable Trust to bring the vision to life.
In the August 2023 addition of Business North, there is a write up about the project.
The development is the vision of the Brian Perry Charitable Trust who partners with local organisations to support a wide range of community-driven projects.
Bridge Housing is their commitment to “providing secure and long-term access to healthy homes at an affordable rate for kiwi families.”
With an emphasis on affordability and innovation, this 47-home community aims to provide a solution for young families struggling to enter the housing market.
Under the Secure Home Programme, the Bridge Housing Trust offers two-bedroom, one-bathroom units for just $325,000 under the leasehold model and $660,000 if people choose the freehold option.
Architecturally designed, these homes boast quality fixtures and fittings, and a considered neutral colour palette.
The three completed three-bedroom single-level homes have sold out.
How does it work?
The Secure Home Programme is a relatively new concept in New Zealand, which aims to provide long-term housing stability and security akin to freehold home ownership.
Families who qualify for the programme purchase the home at its construction cost, while the Bridge Trust retains ownership of the land.
Peake Mews is an exciting housing development for the Waikato region, and at Orb we feel privileged to be managing this project.
